After years of enduring physical and sexual abuse, Kalina found the courage to escape domestic violence with her two young children and she found shelter at one of our local partner sites.
While there, she was introduced to Alive at Last and placed into a small group
Because of her difficult past, Kalina expressed that it was hard for her to open up and trust people.
However, over the course of the 6-month mentorship program, Kalina and her mentor built a deep, rich, trusting relationship.
Kalina wrote in her evaluation that she didn’t see her mentor as just a mentor anymore but as a confidant, a big sister, and an auntie to her children.
She said she couldn’t believe someone would take her under their wing without judgment, love her unconditionally, and show up so faithfully in her times of need.
Kalina said she learned a lot about humility as it was demonstrated to her by her mentor. She feels more confident to walk in humility herself as she has come to understand more fully who she is in Christ.
Kalina expressed how much she is grateful to her mentor and the Alive at Last community. It has made such a difference in her life and she is looking forward to continuing her relationship with her mentor and with the Alive at Last community.
