A Letter to the Alive at Last Community
from Mike Immler, Our New Chairman of the Board
Dear Team Members, Volunteers, Ministry Partners, and Friends:
On behalf of the entire Board of Directors, I want to personally thank you for supporting the extremely important ministry of Alive at Last. As I begin my new role as Chairman of the Board, I believe there are times when it is necessary to stop and recognize the incredible dedication and commitment each of you brings to supporting the survivors of sexual exploitation so they would live free.
I also want to recognize Gwen Miller, our President, and Executive Director, for her amazing work keeping the ministry moving forward after the sudden passing of her predecessor, Alisa Evans. Our Ministry has been through several months of personal and professional hardships with the passing of our former Executive Director and Gwen has been a true inspiration to all of us that are associated with Alive at Last. Alongside Gwen during this time with unfailing support have been Laura Mapstead, Terri Rivera, Judy Caracheo, Delanna Hess, and Arlene Johnson.
For our team members, mentors, volunteers, small group leaders, each of you brings unbelievable energy and love to our survivors. Without your sacrificial attitudes, we would not have served the nearly one hundred survivors during a pandemic-challenged year. Your willingness to pour out the true love that our Savior Jesus Christ commanded us to give to one another is manifested in the lives of every survivor. Even though a simple thank you seems insufficient, I want you to know that I personally am sending each of you my sincerest and deepest thanks.
To our partners and supporters, we could not give the hope of living free to the survivors without your generous and continuing financial support. Our ministry reflects God working in a community that is often overlooked. We are blessed by your unfailing commitment to our ministry. Alive at Last is grateful for all you have done and will do to give the survivors hope of a life free from human trafficking. I know our entire team is saying a combined “Thank You!”
As the Chairman of the Board, I pledge to each of those associated with Alive at Last my commitment to run our ministry with complete transparency and in the spirit of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ’s commandment to love one another as He loves us.
