We impact lives with the power of God working through our small group leaders and mentors.
Alive at Last staff and volunteers use a trauma-informed approach to help victims stabilize and feel safe. Victims are encouraged to heal from abuse in their past, but we allow them to decide when they are ready to step into a healing journey. We encourage people to move from victim to survivor to a place where they are thriving. This victim-centered approach allows them to choose if they would like to start with “Healing from the Past” curriculum such as Mending the Soul or Forgiving Forward.
Volunteers lead and participate in small groups to support survivors in their healing journeys. These small groups allow survivors to share their stories with others who care. This may be the first safe environment the survivors have experienced. Mending the Soul curriculum helps survivors understand abuse, shame and the path to forgiveness. Being part of a loving supportive community is life changing.
Survivors may also choose to start with “Embrace the Future” options which include exploring your life purpose or career choices. The best way for survivors to move forward is to build relationships with safe healthy community members who encourage them to grow emotionally, socially and spiritually.
Understanding individual gifts, talents and abilities is essential to living out one’s destiny. A Mentor is paired in a one-to-one “mentoring” relationship with a survivor and both complete a 6-month Life Purpose Discovery program. Mentors and survivors will have the opportunity to:
- Experience unconditional love.
- Discover strengths, gifts and talents.
- Explore life purpose and mission.
As a survivor understands her unique design, she ends up trading her inferior identity for an identity rooted in God and His love. She then begins to live a life full of meaning and a vision for the future is ignited. This is only possible with a mentor by her side, sharing the experience.
Our volunteers serve as 1-1 Mentors, Small Group Leaders and Event Planners. You can help us plan a one-time celebration or make a commitment to walk with someone for 3-6 months. The need is great, and we are always ready to expand our services. Get the training you need to walk alongside survivors as a mentor, friend and confidante. Click here to get started today.
