Sandi came to the final Alive at Last small group meeting dressed in a bright blue cap and gown. The small group participants had already determined they wanted to dress up for the final session, which was also a party celebrating the completion of the Alive at Last small group on forgiveness. But the Alive at Last team was surprised to see Sandi in a cap and gown with her two children sitting beside her.
“Sandi, you look great!”, remarked Susan, Alive at Last small group leader Susan. “Thank you, I spent a whole hour on my make up. I decided to go all out and celebrate in a big way. To me, this is more than a party, it is a graduation to the next season in my life. I’m getting a second chance and I’m not going to waste it. Tonight is so important to me I arranged for my kids to visit so they could attend and see how I’m making strides toward a new start.” Sandi beamed.
Thanks to amazing volunteers serving across the DFW area in safe houses and shelters, Alive at Last small groups provide a safe community where survivors of sexual exploitation can begin to heal from their past and dare to chart a new future.
Will you help other survivors like Sandi by giving to our Free to Thrive campaign so we can help them rise from their past and chart a new future?
