88% of the women we serve never go back to a life of exploitation.
But sometimes the road to get there can often be long and tiresome.
Here’s Tonya’s story of how discipline and hard work can bring breakthrough and freedom.
“ When I attended my first two Alive At Last small group sessions it was just too much for me to handle, so I quit going. I thought that it would be easier for me to do my journey on my own. Several months past and I relocated to a different shelter but with the same issues. I felt stuck and I didn’t know how to get myself out of it. I heard that Alive At Last was hosting another session at the safe house that I was in, and I decided to sign up for a second time. Though my desire for change was strong, my fear and guilt was stronger, so I bailed for a second time.
Fall of that year my fear, hurt, and guilt from my past kept getting louder and louder. Then one day something in me snapped, and I said “enough is enough!”
I decided to apply for a third time for the Alive At Last small group, and this time it was different. This time I stuck with it and I attended every small group session focusing on forgiveness. Though I was going through some very hard times, the ladies in my small group became my support system and stuck with me through it all.”
A crisis experience for our survivors will often determine whether they stay with our program or quit. Tonya didn’t quit.
Tonya has now graduated from her small group and is now sharing her testimony with other survivors.
We never give up on the invisible work God is doing. We thrive on watching trafficked women and children walk in hope and complete freedom from their trauma.
If you would like to help more women like Tonya, please consider becoming a monthly partner with Alive at Last.
Thank you so much for partnering with us in helping survivors live free and discover their God-given purpose.
